Lionel Messi in the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 Official Commercial "The Developer"
9 Oct 2013
Told from a child's perspective, "The Developer" is a musical short film by Samsung featuring Lionel Messi and the hit single "Royals" by Lorde.
A mysterious stranger arrives in a low income neighborhood and captures the imaginations of the children who live there. He is "The Developer" and the children view him with a deep suspicion.
Together with his Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear, the Developer effortlessly masterminds a secret construction project. Using the latest in Samsung technology including Action Memo, Pen Window, Scrapbook and hands-free call capability on the Gear, the Developer orchestrates and executes his mysterious mission.
The children watch in awe. They reflect on their current situation by singing Lorde's breakout hit "Royals," a song about overcoming her own humble beginnings.
The spot concludes with a beautiful new pitch that has been constructed in the toughest part of town. The Developer is revealed to be the world's reigning football star, Lionel Messi, fulfilling his personal mission to help under privileged children.
The events in this story are a dramatic retelling of actual projects completed by the Messi Foundation. The film was directed by Adam Hashemi.

Samsung Galaxy S4: The Smart Phone Line
23 Sept 2013
Samsung Galaxy S4: The Smart Phone Line
Unlike some of the recent line ups for the new iPhone, Samsung does one better with "The Samsung Galaxy S4 Smart Line." In New Zealand, Samsung saved its customers the pain of lines by creating a digital queue for the launch of the Galaxy S4. In an update of the virtual queue idea, with customers also acting as marketers, people could move up the line by their use of social media: the more likes, re-tweets and comments they got on S4-related content, the closer they moved to the front.

Samsung GALAXY Note 3 presents "Sweet Dreams", a digital short film, Design Your Life
11 Sept 2013
Samsung has just released the first film in its “Design Your Life” campaign created to promote the groundbreaking GALAXY Gear and Note 3. Created by Leo Burnett LA and Chicago, the campaign positions the new GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear as vehicles of inspiration, following a cast of characters as they, through striking visuals and unique musical experiences, bring their admirable goals to life.
“Sweet Dreams,” the first spot within the campaign, features an impassioned young woman working to modernize her grandfather’s toyshop. In her pursuit to revive his business, she utilizes six distinct features from the new GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear to gather cultural inspiration to chase her dream.
Directed by famed music video director Paul Hunter, “Sweet Dreams” ends with a show-stopping puppet performance of real dancers converted to “marionettes” via special CGI technology. Captured through stunning cinematography, the rousing story is set to Annie Lennox’s “Sweet Dreams” hit.
The campaign comes on the heels of the one-year anniversary of the opening of Leo Burnett Los Angeles. This West Coast hub is led by Global Executive Creative Director Shannon, along with EVP/Creative Directors, Brandon Rochon and Adam Kennedy.

Meet Wanderus, Connecticus & Relaxicus In Samsung's "What's Your Tabitat?" New Ad Campaign
8 Aug 2013
Great new work from the creative agency Cheil for the new Samsung "What's Your Tabitat?" campaign. Three ads make up the campaign for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 line up: "Wanderus" (above) - known for their constant motion; totally at home even when they aren't, below "Relaxicus" - the unapologetic home dweller; a kick back couch-snuggler, and "Connecticus" - Who is tribal by nature; incredibly connected and inherently social.
The spots were produced by Toronto based production company six01, a relatively new studio that has grown from a foundation in visual effects and motion graphics work to take on full, large scale, live-action productions. "Produced in three weeks for Cheil Canada, this marks an important step for us towards larger scale, live-action productions", says six01 on it's blog. "We're excited to add this capacity to our services while maintaining a strong visual effects and motion graphics portfolio".

Samsung GALAXY S4 Presents Hi Hey Hello A Musical Short Film
28 May 2013
The Chicharones, a Portland duo on CamoBear Records are thrilled to announce their involvement with the Samsung GALAXY S4 music video for 'Hi, Hey, Hello". The video, directed by Joseph Khan, multiple Grammy winner for video direction, tells the story of a college boy crushing on a girl in his class- and campus wide dancing ensues. Don't be fooled though, the Chicharones can be spotted in the video almost like a Where's Waldo puzzle wearing a myriad of silly outfits.
The Chicharones, originally formed at South by Southwest, are composed of songwriters Sleep and Josh Martinez. Since releasing their 2006 opus When Pigs Fly (Camobear Records/Bella Union), they have toured the world, collaborated with the who's who of underground pop, released critically and commercially successful solo albums. The partnership with Samsung has really brought them from the underground to the public eye, and they will be starting a nationwide radio campaign for "Hi, Hey, Hello" as well as performing at high profile events, touring, and releasing a new album.

Samsung Galaxy Stare Down - "All eyes on the S4"
Samsung and wireless provider Swisscom created this charming "stare down" contest in the railroad station at Zurich.
To promote the Galaxy S4's eye-tracking feature — you can scroll on the phone without touching it — the company installed a booth on a busy platform and offered any passenger a free Galaxy S4 if they could stare at it for a full hour without the phone detecting they'd looked away.
Sounds simple enough ... until the challenge begins. At which point Samsung's stooges begin distracting the contenders with hot dog carts, barking German shepherds, and a stunt motorcyclist. One guy does, eventually, make it through the hour:
It's not clear which ad agency created the spot, but it bears all the hallmarks of a Duval Guillaume Modem stunt (contact us if you know who the agency is).

The Super Bowl is a global spectacle that millions of people crowd in front of their televisions for every year and with an estimated 7.3 million Canadian viewers taking in last year's Big Game, it's inevitable that social commentary takes place off the field. During the 2012 Super Bowl, a record 15 million tweets were tracked over the course of the game, with over 12 thousand per second. To ensure Canadians don't miss a minute, Samsung's SMART TVs feature on-screen connectivity to Twitter and Facebook applications via Social TV, allowing audiences to keep up with the action digitally and socially.
In 2012, Samsung Electronics aired its first Super Bowl ad launching a new category of smartphones with the Galaxy Note. The ad, which was developed by 72 and Sunny, and LA-based agency won the Twitter Ad Scrimmage that included 30 brands and 42 spots. The Galaxy Note went on to sell 10 million devices globally in 9 months followed by the Note II which sold 5 million devices globally in 2 months.
