Norfolk Southern "What's Your Function?"

29 Sept 2013

Here's our new television advertisement, "Norfolk Southern, What's Your Function?" We've updated the classic Schoolhouse Rock "Conjunction Junction" to remind everyone how Norfolk Southern connects businesses, create jobs, and keeps the economy moving.

The spot is the work of Maryland based creative ad agency rp3, that first launched in May 2013 and damn it's good. Previous work from rp3: "City of Possibilities", equally beautiful.

Norfolk Southern's "City of Possibilities" showcases the railroad's role as a creator of economic possibilities—a powerful force for growth among the industries and communities served by the line.

The ad is a whimsical portrayal of a boy and his dog, and the steady growth of a railroad-served community that comes to life while they sleep. In the last decade, NS has participated in the location and expansion of more than 1,000 factories, distribution facilities, and other businesses along its lines, representing an investment by NS customers of $30 billion and some 46,000 jobs.

The spot was produced by Norfolk Southern's advertising agency, RP3 Agency of Bethesda, Md., and by The Mill of New York, N.Y., an award-winning creator of computer-generated graphics.

Android KitKat, Take A Break and Win a Nexus 7 Smart Phone

23 Sept 2013

Have a Seat on the Android KitKat custom made billboards created by JWT Amsterdam
The creators of the world’s most popular mobile platform have teamed up with the world’s biggest food and beverage company to name the next release of the platform ‘Android Kit Kat’. To celebrate this collaboration, JWT Amsterdam created a campaign, which fits seamlessly with both brands. We placed special outdoor ads at various locations in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Then we simply invited people to have a break, by sitting on the special bench we’d placed on the ad. Anyone who was having this special break at the given moment on Saturday, September 14th, won a new Nexus 7 tablet.

psa: Rape "It's Your Fault"

22 Sept 2013

"It's Your Fault"
All India Bakchod (AIB 365) a collective of entertainers consisting of Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, and Ashish Shakya, together they create a weekly sketch show from India's edgiest, politically incorrect and humorous news headlines.

AIB 365's lastest work is an ingenious video that adds humor and sarcasm to this public awareness campaign for Violence Against Women Prevention. The PSA entitled "It's Your Fault" blames women themselves for being the victims of rape. With ridiculous lines like "...scientific studies suggest that women who wear skirts are the leading cause of rape, do you know why? Because men have eyes." The video goes on to blame women for watching Bollywood films, mobile devices and the lack of support from India's Police...the comedic approach to the campaign actually might work.

Every sexual assault case in India inspires a string of stupid and hateful remarks against women. This is our response to those remarks.

New Ad: Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup "Never Change"

16 Sept 2013

Sprint "Never Change"
To promote Sprint’s sponsorship of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and the new Unlimited for Life Guarantee, Sprint’s newest television spot offers NASCAR fans a glimpse into the future of popular drivers Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth.

Aged with elaborate makeup, the two drivers square off on mobility scooters clad with team numbers, colors and sponsor decals. They race through the halls of a nursing home, bashing and fighting for the lead. But when they finish their lap, they find that Miss Sprint Cup Kim Coon (also aged several decades) has fallen asleep while knitting the checkered flag.

As the two drivers race off for another lap, the title appears reading, “The drive to win is for life.” Title cards and announcer copy then make it clear that while other carriers are withdrawing their unlimited offerings, Sprint is guaranteeing unlimited for life.

Created by Team Sprint (Leo Burnett and Digitas), the spot was shot on location at a real nursing home outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Many of the nursing home’s residents are featured in the spot, including the participants of a real water aerobics class. After several hours of makeup, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth mixed in easily with the residents, shaking hands and even helping out with some crossword puzzles.

Stardust Brings Blockbuster-esque Title Sequence To Southwest Airlines

STARDUST BRINGS BLOCKBUSTER-ESQUE TITLE SEQUENCE TO SOUTHWEST AIRLINES

Stardust, the bicoastal integrated production and design firm, partnered up with GSD&M to create a thrilling promotional film for Southwest Airlines’ new in-flight service of Free Live TV. The film showcases a series of high-octane, title sequences that unfold and transform into a beautiful, polished, metallic type-face straight out of a Summer Blockbuster.

“The creative team at GSD&M came to us with the basis of a great idea,” explains Stardust Managing Director/Co-Owner Dexton Deboree. “They wanted to deliver a largely text-based advertisement, and deliver it in the vein of a Summer Blockbuster movie trailer. We took inspiration, of course, from the usual big, explosive, sci-fi action movie trailers. But we also looked in far corners, such as metal welding. Then, we married that with concepts inspired by underwater marine footage; delicate, but transformative origami objects; and space exploration to discover our creative execution. We credit the agency for giving us such a solid foundation, and then just paid tribute to that in the best way we could.”

Adds Stardust Creative Director/Co-Owner Seth Epstein: “We embraced the idea of a dimensional fractal, and once we put it into motion, the morphing from one shape into type and back worked in such a visceral and cinematic way,” he says. “That was our challenge; to make something that feels like a Blockbuster that has a visceral quality while maintaining readability. We did not want to do the classic ‘type flies from background’ approach. We really pushed to come up with something innovative; and we did. There is hypnotic quality to this film, which I love. We're very proud of how we took a simple type treatment and turned it into something really special. Ultimately, having a great agency partner was also a big part of this project’s success; and their willingness to take the road less traveled was essential.”

Burberry Kisses, An Art, Copy & Code Project powered by Google

One hundred and fifty-seven years after its founding, Burberry continues to reinvent its approach to luxury marketing. In this project, we’re working with Burberry to re-imagine how brands can deliver beautiful, emotional experiences across different devices and screens, while reaching a key audience - millennial consumers.

Burberry Kisses lets you send personal messages to loved ones that are sealed with your actual kiss, and can be dressed up in a real Burberry lipstick color. Through the magic of modern browsers and display ad technologies, we’re able to deliver a beautiful experience to millions of people across the web. Burberry Kisses doesn’t look or feel like a traditional ad, but instead, it’s a personal interaction that forges a deeper connection between users and the brand.

The Brief:
Create an emotional connection between the Burberry brand and millennial consumers, who easily tune out traditional fashion and beauty marketing.

Insight:
A kiss is one of the most iconic and personal symbols of human emotion — a means of not only bringing people closer together, but also of forging a deeper connection with the Burberry brand.

The Concept:
A rich experience that lets you send personal messages to loved ones, sealed with a virtual imprint of your real kiss; all while contributing to a broader story of the world’s love.

The song is "Evergreen Love" by Misty Miller.

12 Sept 2013

To show the difference between sensual, sexy acting and porn, director Alberto Belli created a humorous ad for HBO.

Titled ‘It’s Not Porn…’, it shows several budding actors raving to their friends and family about their new roles in a TV series.

Initially, they are horrified of what they hear—thinking that their loves ones have been tricked into shooting a porn film.

However, their fears turn into joy when they find out that it’s actually part of scene from a HBO drama, like ‘True Blood’ or ‘Game of Thrones’. via:

New Volkswagen Ads Introduce Johnny Conquest, The Organic Bag Boy & The Fake Co-Worker

10 Sept 2013

A new VW ad campaign that’s a bit of a departure from the typical Volkswagen ads: A series of ads featuring a character named Johnny Conquest, whose only mission is showing people that they deserve a better car.

For these ads, Deutsch LA tasked to find ways to show multiple features and accolades in one spot, as opposed to the single feature often shown in VW commercials. Enter Johnny, who jumps into people’s lives to give them unsolicited demonstrations about the virtues of German engineering.

In “Johnny Conquest: Lunch,” Johnny enters a room full of office workers and offers to drive them to lunch at that “place we all like,” and then tells them about the car on the drive. When someone asks him if he works for Volkswagen, he says, “No, I work for the company that we all work for…the place we just left.”

In “Johnny Conquest: Organic,” he carries groceries to a couple’s car and says, “You do not want these in there. Trust me, I’m a bag boy. At the…place I just mentioned.”

Part of Johnny’s charm is that the fibs he tells are barely passable as fibs, as if he’s so enthusiastic with the car that he doesn’t stop to learn the name of the place where he’s supposed to work. In fact, no matter what clothes he has on, he always wears a VW logo.

Despite his last name, a sales term, Johnny is more of an evangelist than a salesperson, and it’s telling that he goes out to people’s jobs and lives instead of meeting people at a dealership. He wants to talk to people in the real world.

The ads are directed by David Shane, known for a lot of very funny commercials, including Bud Light’s “Swear Jar.”
