The Embarrassing iPhone-Bashing Video That Microsoft Doesn't Want You To See
15 Sept 2013
The Embarrassing iPhone-Bashing Video That Microsoft Doesn't Want You To See
[Story by: Jay Yarow, Business Insider] Sometimes it's best to just keep your mouth shut.
Microsoft posted a video that makes fun of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. It has two people as stand-ins to represent Tim Cook and Jony Ive while two people pretending to be Apple employees pitch the new phones.
This video should have never been released.
Microsoft is getting clobbered by the iPhone. And we don't just mean its smartphone business is losing to the iPhone — we mean the whole company is getting clobbered.
The iPhone led to the iPad, which has caused consumer PC sales to collapse. As PC sales fall, Microsoft's Windows revenue is falling. This is bad news for the whole company and is likely a big part of the reason CEO Steve Ballmer is leaving.
The iPhone alone is a bigger business than Microsoft.
Don't forget, Steve Ballmer laughed at the iPhone when it was released. He's since learned to stop laughing at it. Apparently the rest of the company hasn't learned.
Instead of mocking Apple and its iPhone, Microsoft should show some humility, put its head down and get to work making a better product.
Update: Microsoft must not have liked the ad all that much, either. It yanked the video and sent us this statement:
"The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down." – Microsoft spokesperson

Windows 8 - Less Talking More Doing
24 May 2013
Siri does all the talking in Microsoft's latest Apple bashing spot for it's Windows 8 tablet. Apple's voice assistant apologies for not being able to run certain programs and perform functions..."I'm sorry, I don't update like that," she says. "I'm sorry, I can only do one thing at a time." Let's hope we've seen the last of the attack ads from Microsoft for a while.

Microsoft Office 365 "Work From Here" Campaign Takes Over UK Train Stations
2 Apr 2013
Creative ad agency Wunderman has created one of the UKs biggest ever train station takeovers as part of a new integrated campaign for Microsoft Office 365, across Euston, St Pancras, Glasgow, Paddington, Edinburgh, Manchester and Canary Wharf.
The "Work From Here" campaign is on a vast scale, incorporating a wide range of media book by UM London, including every digital display in the stations, lawn art, benches with built-in Wi-Fi, paper cups and sandwich bags, traditional outdoor, and special ambient placements on ticket gates, poles, and the tables of several trains.
Remarkably, the work involves over 300 bespoke executions as each one is tailored to suit every media placement, with no digital display, billboard, lawn, table or bench using the same creative.
The creative brings humour and personality through references to local vernacular and landmarks in vicinity of the media such as cafés, exits, waiting areas, or timetable boards, to demonstrate the ability to seamlessly work on the go from any location with Microsoft Office 365.
The campaign, which launches this week, also introduces a medium that has never been used before train tables. Wunderman will be the first ever agency to pioneer this new medium across three rail services, on the Stanstead Express and Greater Anglia and Southern railway lines. With free Wi-Fi and tables labelled as 'Boardoom One' or 'Conference Room', commuters could trial Office 365 while hurtling across the country.

The 90's Are Back In Stupid Hype Web Series - Let's Get Laid Promo Spot
6 Dec 2012
CWTV is bringing the 90's back with Stupid Hype, a hilarious live-action web series that screams 90's nostalgia. In the 90's, hip hop was all about color, flash and funky fresh beats, from parachute pants to dope dance moves.
In the latest ad promoting the show, "Let's Get Laid" (no that isn't a typo) Stupid Hype chronicles the (mis)adventures of Hype, played by Hart of Dixie Star's Wilson Bethel, who after a tragic breakdancing accident, becomes a rising rap star in 1990. The series features original music from Bethel and his super-producer brother Charlie Bethel, aka Chuck Wild, and is directed by Dugan O'Neal. Look for guests appearance from legendary hip hop icons Flavor Fav and even more Vanilla Ice-esque beats in coming episodes.
Stupid Hype is sponsored by Windows 8 and airs on CWTV.com every Tuesdays. To watch full episodes of the web only series you can check it out here.

Microsoft Attacks Google In Another Sad Attempt With Scroogled Ad Campaign
Microsoft today launched a "Don’t Get Scroogled" ad campaign with a web video ad and a website asking people to share stories of bad Google search results. Sadly, this attack ad on Google will back fire, early results seem to be bad for Bing and Microsoft as most comments on their Facebook page and YouTube (ironically funny as the video is uploaded on said Scroogler owned YouTube) are favoring Google, looks like Microsoft Scroogled themselves again.
The website reads:
In the beginning, Google preached, “Don’t be evil“—but that changed on May 31, 2012. That’s when Google Shopping announced a new initiative. Simply put, all of their shopping results are now paid ads. In their under-the-radar announcement, Google admits they’ve now built “a purely commercial model” that delivers listings ranked by “bid price.” Google Shopping is nothing more than a list of targeted ads that unsuspecting customers assume are search results.
The attack ad is too much, with comments like “Google > Bing… Attack ads just show how desperate they are for users” and “Bing is hopeless.. negative marketing will get you nowhere.” You can check out the Scroogled ad above and decide for yourself.

Microsoft Surface Video A Viral Success
9 Jul 2012
A tablet that's a unique expression of entertainment and creativity.
A tablet that works and plays the way you want.
A new type of computing. Surface....
Surface, Microsoft's first promo video created by 22 year old Caleb Slain, a relative unknown in the ad world, might just have Microsoft snubbing their major ad agency partners: Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Deutsch or Razorfish, again in the future after the success of the video (6 million+ views to date).
Caleb Slain said, "I've had no direct contact within the agencies at all, ours was originally supposed to be a product showcase by myself and Keith Rivers." Rivers produced the video.
"We just wanted to make the most awesome, badass video possible, so that when we gave it back to Microsoft they would either love it or we would never work for them again."
