The federal Conservatives have launched two attack ads on Youtube targeting Justin Trudeau, the day after the Montreal MP was named Liberal leader.
The two ads – each 30 seconds long – question Trudeau’s experience, with the tagline saying he’s “way over his head.” The spots also highlight Trudeau’s youth and good looks, including a clip of Trudeau performing a mock strip tease.
The Conservatives also go after reporters, accusing the media of being affected by “Trudeaumania” once again. Trudeau is the son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
Last week, Justin Trudeau told The Canadian Press that he expected the next Liberal leader to face a barrage of Conservative attack ads, similar to those that so effectively trashed the party’s past two leaders, Stephane Dion and Michael Ignatieff. But he said he had no intention of letting the attacks go unanswered.
