Virgin Atlantic Fly In The Face of Ordinary Epic New TV Advert
Virgin Atlantic launches a great new ad campaign, "Fly In The Face of Ordinary" that celebrates the extraordinary talents of the airlines employees. The multimillion dollar advert highlights the amazing skills of the airline's staff of crew, designers, pilots and everyday pioneers.
The campaign launches as the airline expands it's domestic flying program in the United Kingdom with service between London Heathrow and Manchester, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Virgin Atlantic is also looking for 150 new staff for the launch and the epic two minute commercial gives us an insight into the kind of people that make Virgin Atlantic "fly in the face of ordinary" and provide prospective passengers a welcome splash of red in a weary world of grey.
"Our advertisement is a powerful New Year message encouraging everyone to look again at young people and the talents they have to offer to businesses and industries all over the country. People are at the heart of Virgin Atlantic and this campaign celebrates them," said Sir Richard Branson, President of Virgin Atlantic and went on to say: "We're always on the lookout for gifted people to grow our business. Our staff hold the keys to the future of Virgin Atlantic; they work so hard, and we are delighted to dedicate this new advert to them."

Peugeot Just Add Fuel TV Ad "Gary's Cat Is Missing"
Havas Worldwide London is behind a major new ad campaign for car maker Peugeot, promoting its Just Add FuelTM finance package.
The idea behind the campaign is that Peugeot takes the stress out of buying a new car. It shows that people dont need to worry about things that dont affect them, and that with Peugeots Just Add FuelTM finance package, they also do not need to worry about the car insurance for three years.
In the TV ad, Garys Cat, we are told the sad story of a worried man looking for his missing feline in the pouring rain, before the voiceover tells us: Hang on. You dont know Gary do you. Well, dont worry then. It cuts to a couple driving a new Peugeot 208, having a great, worry-free time, and explains the benefits of the Just Add FuelTM package, a single monthly amount that covers car tax, warranty, breakdown cover and comprehensive insurance for three years.
Dom Gettins, Creative Director at Havas Worldwide London, said: Hunting through car insurance deals isnt everyones idea of a good time so Peugeots Just Add FuelTM is a brilliant idea, and we wanted to create an ad that would appeal to people who have better things to do with their lives than worry.
Morgan Lecoupeur, Marketing Director at Peugeot UK, said: With a unique and highly-attractive product in Just Add FuelTM we needed a great idea, with a serious and an amusing aspect, also saluting our Motion & Emotion signature, and I think Garys Cat will give us the awareness we seek from Christmas Day, as it airs for the first time.

Suzy Favor Hamilton In Knock Out Nike Commercial
22 Dec 2012
Suzy Favor Hamilton, three-time Olympian and now the $600-an-hour call girl appeared in several commercials, a look back at two of our favorites. The Nike ad from way back featured the sexy Hamilton in a Friday the 13th-ish horror themed spot (Why Sport? You'll Live Longer) that was pulled off the air by NBC after receiving thousands of compliants making light of violence against women.
Her image could hardly have been better: Athletic. A knockout. All-American. So accomplished and so wholesome that Disneyland hired her for speaking engagements, the Big Ten named an award after her and the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association made her their pitchwoman.
An "escape," she called it, that was really a way of masking an American Dream coming unhinged -- a real-life tragedy that undercut the myth that success, wealth and fame is a surefire path to happiness.
"I do not expect people to understand," Favor Hamilton said in a frenzied burst of tweets after details about her secret life became public Thursday in a report on The Smoking Gun website. "But the reasons for doing this made sense to me at the time and were very much related to depression."
Suzy Hamilton looked great in the shower in this Pert Plus commercial (below), she also appeared in ads for Reebok, Clairol, Oakley, Kikkoman Foods, Nordic Track, Viactiv Calcium Chews, sadly she will now only be remembered as a high price call-girl.

Santa Talks To Kids Via A Magical Payphone
17 Dec 2012
Beautiful new campaign for Orelhão Mágico keeps the spirit of Santa Claus alive for a some lucky children in Brazil who came across this Magic Payphone.
Oi, a telecom provider from Brazil, is hoping to make everyone believe in the magic of Christmas one more time. That’s why it created the Magical Payphone, a device that connected kids with Santa Claus. Installed in Rio de Janeiro, the special payphone was available to kids walking by with their parents. Once they made the call, the kids would chat with Santa, who were actually two retired actors from Retiro dos Artistas (an institution that takes care of former artists). But it was much more than a telephone call. Big surprises were prepared for the kids: lost elf's, gifts and even a mapped projection with snow and a choir of kids. Everything to make a great experience for the children and everyone watching.

5 Future Technology Innovations from IBM - Cognitive Computing Is Coming
Every year IBM makes predictions about 5 technology innovations that stand to change the way we live within the next 5 years, (above) IBM introduces us to Cognitive Computing. Thought your smartphone was smart? In five years our computers just might be: Tasting, Smelling, Hearing, Seeing, and Touching everything for us. (5 senses videos below).
The goal of cognitive computing is to get a computer to behave, think and interact the way humans do. In 5 years, machines will emulate human senses, each in their own special way.
“With all due respect to current technology, our computers today are just large calculators,” said Paul Bloom, the CTO of Telecom Research at IBM. “They calculate very fast and lots of data, but they really don’t think.”
"This is really an assistive technology," commented Dr. Bernard Meyerson, IBM's VP of research. "It can't go off on its own. It's not designed to do that. What it's designed to do, in fact, is respond to a human in an assistive manner. But by providing a human-style of input, it's freed us from the task of programming and moved to the task of training. It simply has — not more intelligence — but more bandwidth, and there's a huge difference between the two."
Smell:
In 5 years, computers will have a sense of smell. We will see vast advances where sensors will be equipped to smell potential diseases that feed back into a cognitive system to tell us if they suspect a possible health issue. Your phone will detect if you're coming down with a cold or illness before you do.
Taste:
In 5 years, a computer system will know what you like to eat better than you do. A machine that experiences flavor will determine the precise chemical structure of food and why people like it. Not only will it get you to eat healthier, but it will also surprise us with unusual pairings of foods that are designed to maximize our experience of taste and flavor. Digital taste buds will help you to eat smarter.
Sight:
In 5 years, computers will not only be able to look at images, but understand them. Computers will be trained to turn pictures and videos into features, identifying things like color distribution, texture patterns, edge information and motion information. A pixel will be worth a thousand words.
Touch:
In 5 years, you will be able to touch through your phone. IBM is working on bringing a sense of touch to mobile devices, and bringing together virtual and real world experiences for a number of industries including retail. Shoppers will be able to "feel" the texture and weave of a fabric or product by brushing their finger over the item's image on a device's screen.
Hearing:
In 5 years, computers will hear what matters. Hearing systems of the future will be trained by 'listening' to sounds and will use this input to start detecting patterns and building models to decompose sounds. Machines will be used to predict when a tree might fall or to translate "baby talk" so parents understand if a baby's fussing indicates hunger, tiredness or pain.

BMW Web Film "The Road Home"

Filmed around Thanksgiving, kbs+ employees captured their personal experiences traveling home on mobile phones and video cameras. The result mixes over 50+ videos set to an original score through the eyes of a holiday traveler.

Ad Guy Creates NHL Boycott "Just Drop It" Viral Campaign
Hockey fan and commercial director (in that order), Steve Chase, is one of the three hockey fanatics behind the trending hockey boycott viral "Just Drop It." Frustrated by the recent lockout and the threat of more games on the chopping block, Chase along with fellow hockey buddies Christian Lalonde (a former pro player) and Mike Devlin (Creative Director/EVP of DraftFCB in NY), came up with the concept of making a simple video asking fans to boycott the NHL.
What was once just an idea between friends is becoming an overnight international success. The grass-root campaign called "Just Drop It," asks hockey fans to take a pledge and boycott one NHL game for every one game the league takes away after Dec 21. The boycott goes beyond game attendance and urges fans not to purchase any merchandising or watch televised games.
Media in the US and Canada have already shown their support by posting the video on
their web pages and airing interviews with Chase. Hockey is in Chase's blood. An avid player and supporter of the minor league teams as well, Chase directed a campaign for hockey team Allen Americans. See the all the Allen Americans spots here.
Team owner and NHL superstar Steve Duchesne approached Chase to create and direct the work. The resultant commercials masterfully underline how hockey players possess a passion for the game like no other. Recently quoted as "welcoming the challenge of creating ads in the digital culture," Chase wasted no time and let his passion and conscience drive him.
Just Drop It's Statement: Visit their Facebook Fan page to join the cause. [link]
The NHL and the players union have once again insulted the very people who pay their salaries. We the fans have the power to make them listen by taking the Just Drop It pledge. For every game they cancel after December 21st, we will boycott an equal number of games. They cancel 10, we boycott 10. No tickets, no TV, no merchandise. If you want to be heard go to our Facebook page and "like" us to pledge. You can also post your own pledge video. Make them JUST DROP IT!

The Aussie Burger Urge Is So Intimately Intense Their Mailing Out Condoms Just In Case
13 Dec 2012
Australian burger restaurant "Burger Urge has created a controversial marketing campaign by mailing out condoms inscribed with the tagline, "get intimate with our new premium beef."
Urge owner Sean Carthew has unsurprisingly received a fair share of complaints, at least one from a parent concerned that a child might find the condom. Others promised never to patronize Burger Urge. Carthew defended the his ad campaign, saying that the eatery has "some big franchise competitors and we're a small business... We're just trying to be a little bit creative about how we can market."
Burger Urge certainly isn't backing off on the campaign, judging from their website and facebook page many comments appear to be more positive, with some questioning the effectiveness of the gimmick.
I personally don't mind the it, I found the image of the woman licking the cow's face that you'll see as soon as you visit their website, with the text telling you to get more intimate with their beef a bit more bothersome.
Oh wait it's Premium Beef, that makes the thought of bestiality so much easier to digest.

"Keep the Merry! Dump the Myth" Controversial Billboard In Times Square
12 Dec 2012
The New Jersey American Atheists proudly boasted about the launch of their controversial Winter Billboard Campaign in recently erected in New York's Times Square.
Atheists Share the True Meaning of the Holidays with Times Square Billboard
Cranford, NJ—American Atheists’ latest billboard, located in the heart of New York City, is set to launch on December 11, 2012. Strategically positioned in Times Square (across from the M&M store), the billboard will display images of Santa and Jesus with the message, “Keep the merry! Dump the myth!”
David Silverman, President of American Atheists stated, “We know that a large population of ‘Christians’ are actually atheists who feel trapped in their family's religion. If you know god is a myth, you do not have to lie and call yourself 'Christian' in order to have a festive holiday season. You can be merry without the myth, and indeed, you should.”
Mr. Silverman continued, “We encourage people to be honest with themselves and their families this year. If you don't believe in god, tell your family—honesty is the greatest gift, and they deserve it.”
Teresa MacBain, Communications Director and a former pastor stated, “The true beauty of the season—family, friends, and love—have nothing to do with the gods of yesteryear. Indeed, the season is far more enjoyable without the religious baggage of guilt and judgmentalism. Dump the myth and have a happy holiday season.”
The billboard will remain in Times Square from December 11 through January 10, 2013.
The ad is the latest in holiday-themed billboards put up by the group every year. In 2011, American Atheists posted a variety of ads as part of a “Myth” campaign in three states with images of Santa, Jesus, Greek god Poseidon, and the Devil with the phrase, “37 million Americans know MYTHS when they see one.”
The Catholic League has battled it out with Silverman's group in the past, even posting opposing signs on each end of the Lincoln Tunnel in 2010. But Catholic League spokesman Bill Donohue said Silverman went too far this year.
"This year it's different," he said. "This is vile. When you depict Jesus on the cross with a crown of thorns, this is exploitative. We as Christians never harass, intimidate or insult atheists. But they can't seem to say, 'We simply disagree with you.' They have to insult us."

WestJet Surprise Christmas Flash Mob
Maybe we've seen enough Flash Mob campaigns to make us want to stab our eyes out with dull pencils dipped in melted Skittles, but just one more and I promise this one is good.
WestJet Airlines flash-mobbed an airport lounge-full of late-night travelers at Calgary International Airport with carols, Santa, elves and, from the looks of it, a bit of a giveaway. The red eye to Toronto has probably never been so sparkly.
WestJet says it will donate flights to “a family in need” once the video reaches 25,000 views which it did very easily already.

The Turkey Whisperer for a Paxo Christmas
Paxo has cherished Christmas for over 100 years, and is looking forward to helping everyone celebrate this festive season yet again. The advert features one Thomas Vasey of the Vasey Turkey Farm, who takes advantage of the genuine phenomenon that when you shout at a flock of turkeys they answer you.
So, with the help of McCann London, they’ve created a darkly funny online commercial where even turkeys can’t wait to be stuffed with Paxo at Christmas.
The film, directed by Steve Reeves at Another Film Company, was shot for real on a genuine free range turkey farm and uses the hilarious phenomenon where if you shout at a flock of turkeys, they will answer you in a volley of gobbles.
In the ad, a Paxo representative disguised as a turkey stands up in front of a barn full of the birds and addresses them like a political leader at a rally. And with his masterful oration skills, he manages to convince them to vote for Christmas.
Everyone’s looking forward to a Paxo Christmas. Everyone.
‘The Turkey Whisperer’ will run online and though social media channels from December 3rd.
Javier Gomez, Art Director at McCann London, said: “I have been fascinated by turkeys and their gobbling for years.”
