River Island Fashion Film by Aoife McArdle

Fresh from its debut screening at London Collections: Men we're delighted to share our latest film collaboration with designer Tom Lipop and director Aoife McArdle.

Inspired by the tactile and naturalistic quality of Tom Lipop's pieces, Aoife contrasts the designer's AW13 Design Forum Collection against the aftermath of an apocalypse in a short film commissioned by River Island.

The film's atmospheric and emotive narrative explores the intimate everyday moments of a lone survivor, focusing on the psychology of his solitary existence. Using clothing as a last emblem of identity and humanity, the film explores themes of heroism and the illuminating effect of unconventional friendships in a desolate environment.

EA SPORTS Messi FIFA 14 | New Skill Moves

In this latest FTW interview, EA SPORTS FIFA 14 Producer and pretty handy footballer Kantcho Doskov discusses new Skill Moves and even demoing one for real - a move Ronaldo likes to do from time to time.

It's a combination from a previous skill move called the 'Reverse Step Over'. Step over the ball, touch it with your instep, then use the outside of your other foot to knock it in the opposite direction, completely fooling a defender face to face on the wing.

Kantcho also has a tip for people playing FIFA 14. Use the Left Trigger to protect the ball, this way you can slow down the pace of the game and take advantage of player runs and build up play.

Start-up Brand Kabuto Noodles Stages Live Improvised Ad

Kabuto Noodles, a food brand launching its first marketing activity this week, has bravely staged the world’s first live improvised ad break to get the cut-through required to succeed in a competitive market.

Kabuto Noodles is an upmarket noodle snack bridging the gap between good quality, healthy Asian food and instant noodles found in supermarkets. The brand was founded by Crispin Busk in 2011.

Kabuto Noodles partnered with Viacom Media to secure ad space on Comedy Central to air the live improvised ad and worked with 18 Feet & Rising to create a unique and exciting concept for a TV ad that would make its launch memorable and create a buzz for the brand.

Yesterday (Monday, June 17th), live on prime time Comedy Central to 1 million viewers, four comedians were presented with a pot of Kabuto Noodles, and given an entire ad break to improvise comedy skits, using the pot as a prop.

With comedian host Rob Carter hosting the proceedings, the comedians, from improv group Mischief Theatre, improvised comedy skits live on television and in front of a studio audience.

The live three-minute TV ad, directed by live broadcast director James Russell, aired at 9.10pm on Monday night on Comedy Central. It will be followed by 30-second cut-downs of the ad featuring individual skits.

Crispin Busk, Founder Kabuto Noodles said: “We took a risk leaving our jobs to create something new and now we're taking a risk with our first TV ad. We always wanted to do things that were fun and different so we're really excited."

Jonathan Trimble, CEO of 18 Feet & Rising, said: “Kabuto are about the tastiest noodles you can make in a moment - so trying to make an advert happen live in the same amount of time has proved hair-raising with all credit to the team at Kabuto for having the balls to go for it.”

Peter Dale, Business Development Manager for BeViacom and Comedy Central said: “More so now than ever, it’s essential for a brand’s message to stand out from the crowd. This idea brings together a daring brand alongside Comedy Central’s heritage in stand-up, to create an innovative partnership for the live advert and beyond”.

Kabuto Noodles is stocked in Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Ocado and independents across the UK. In addition Kabuto exports its products to Ireland, Holland, Germany & Russia.

It has grown from 100K in the first year to 750K in 2012, and is set to continue its growth with the introduction of marketing support throughout 2013.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro - Storie di Stile"

Peroni Nastro Azzurro, a star in leading brewer SABMiller's international premium brand portfolio, unveils its new global advertising campaign, Storie di Stile (Stories of Style) in the brands 50th anniversary year.

Inspiration to create the first premium Italian beer came under the leadership of Carlo Peroni through a unique combination of the triumph of the SS Rex, which won the 'Nastro Azzurro' (Blue Riband) in 1933, the cultural richness of living in Rome, and the feeling of optimism and creativity that epitomised the 1960s.

Leica Alma - Award Winning "Soul" Short Film

The movie Alma (in English, “Soul”) – made by Brazilian production company Sentimental Filme – has just won two awards at the prestigious D&AD competition, in London. This brings the tally of international prizes to 12 for this short film conceived by advertising agency F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi.

The first Leica brand campaign in Brazil, the film is part of the launch activities for the German camera maker’s unique concept store in the country – in São Paulo – and features the new M Monochrom digital camera designed to produce stunning photos in black and white.

Alma won for Best Direction and for Cinematography in the Film Advertising Crafts' category with accolades for Vellas and André Faccioli respectively. "The D&AD is possibly one of the hardest prizes to win. The level is very high and the festival showcases many films from all around the world made by influential production companies and filmed by top directors. Just being nominated for a D&AD was something incredible for us, but to win two golden pencils [the statues based on the British awards symbol] was really beyond our expectations and very gratifying. Really amazing", said the director Vellas. This year Brazilian productions bagged four of the coveted D&AD pencil trophies.

Between wars and loves, this is an engaging story of a photographer narrated from the unusual point of view of his own camera. In black and white, the movie sports unconventional angles and, sometimes, deliberately blurred images, as if the camera was held in the actual hand or slung round the neck of the photographer himself.

Hopes are now high that following the film’s success at D&AD Alma will be in the running at the prestigious Cannes Lions 2013, which take place from 16 to 22 June.

The production company...
In 11 years of creative activity, Sentimental Filme has become one of the most important advertising film producers from Brazil. Winner of several national and international awards, including a Bronze Lion at Cannes, three Clio Awards, and two One Show prizes, the company also has a division that produces content for TV, internet, entertainment, interactive advertising, corporate communications and new media. Its major clients include Fiat, Ford, Panasonic, Volkswagen, Visa, Procter & Gamble and AB Imbev.

New Ad - This Is MySpace

13 Jun 2013

The first ad for the new MySpace simply entitled "This Is MySpace"...can a $20 million ad campaign help give the social network a fighting chance, time will tell.

We really wanted to really represent the people that make this brand, Christian Parkes, head of marketing at Myspace told AdWeek. "Because it's not us in this room—we're the guys behind the scenes. But it's really about the community. The tone and spirit ... it's irreverent, slightly anarchistic, that's the tone and the attitude and the feeling.

Milk Every Moment Ads "Curiosity" "Anthem" "Fun"

The Strategic Milk Alliance, a new joint venture created by proud dairy farmers across Canada, is pouring out a new communications campaign, titled ‘Milk Every Moment” that reconnects teens and adults to drinking milk. The evocative and heart-warming creative is an ode to childhood that highlights some of the fun yet nonsensical activities people seem to have outgrown, while revealing milk as a timeless pleasure that can be enjoyed at any age.

“Not everything we did when we were kids made sense, but one thing that did make sense was pairing milk with foods such as cookies and grilled cheese sandwiches,” says Dean Lee, executive creative director, DDB Canada. “This campaign is designed to remind people that drinking milk with their favourite foods was great during their childhood and it still tastes just as good now.”

Developed by the integrated groups of DDB Canada’s Vancouver office, the comprehensive national campaign kicks off with a 60-second cinema spot, “Fun” that portrays all the amusing and occasionally illogical activities children would do purely for enjoyment’s sake. The cinema spot depicts familiar moments from childhood when cardboard boxes became hideouts and frosted posts tempted tongues, all by way of reminding viewers of the time when ‘fun’ governed their decision-making. From the ad’s nostalgic illustration of a young girl wearing rubber gloves for shoes to young boys throwing wet paper balls to the ceiling, the ad’s evocative voice-over helps narrate each scene.

All of the young actors are filmed in scenes to portray eras of the 70s, 80s and 90s, which targets and prompts people of all ages to recall their own history of playful antics. Ending the spot is a universal yet calming reassurance: “While not everything we did when we were kids made sense, drinking milk did, and still does.”

“People, as they move into adulthood, are likely to replace milk with other beverages,” says Katherine Loughlin, Manager, Market Development with Alberta Milk. “With the goal of increasing adult and teen milk consumption across Canada, the new campaign reminds people how great milk pairs with certain foods – something they would have known as kids and may have forgotten over the years.”

Three 30-second TV spots, “Fun,” “Heart” and “Curiosity” help to underpin the message, reinforcing the idea that milk used to and can still be the perfect sidekick. Each spot ends with a call to visit www.MilkEveryMoment.ca, where people are encouraged to share content such as favourite milk pairings, recipes, photos and videos.

The website further ignites users’ passion and excitement for milk through contests and community engagement. The first social contest to launch on June 17 will invite Canadians to post and share content of themselves or their children engaging in memorable childhood moments, such as the ones portrayed in the broadcast spots. The content can be shared directly on the website or via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest. Through a series of public voting and editorial considerations, the six-week contest will determine four winners in total: three of them will take home a Polaroid digital camera and one grand prize winner will receive a DSLR digital camera.

Digital, social, print, outdoor, public relations, experiential and shopper marketing round out this integrated campaign by driving traffic to MilkEveryMoment.ca. Each program element creates conversation and interest surrounding milk. This campaign is the first for the Strategic Milk Alliance since forming and signing DDB Canada as its agency of record in July 2012.

Milk Every Moment was launched earlier this week and will run throughout the year with OMD Canada responsible for the media plan.

Calor "Sourires de femmes"

A lot of women find hair removal using an electric epilator painful and many use alternative hair removal techniques that are known to be less painful but, unfortunately, also less effective. Thanks to its expertise and 5 years of research, Calor has launched the world’s 1st painless electric epilator. Based on unique technology that combines a desensitising function that stops the pain signal, and a refreshing function that soothes the skin, Soft Extreme is establishing itself as the painless solution for soft skin.

In order to prove to our target audience that Soft Extreme hair removal really doesn’t hurt, Calor is beginning its promotion and launching the “Sourires de femmes” campaign.
